Lance Carl represents businesses and individuals throughout Montana in civil litigation, business law, commercial transactions, entity formation and construction law. He is committed to helping clients achieve their goals through practical legal solutions and effective advocacy. Whether resolving complex litigation or guiding business transactions, Lance takes pride in providing thoughtful counsel and responsive service. Known for his attention to detail and exceptional legal writing, he approaches every matter with professionalism, preparation and a strong commitment to his clients.
Raised in Missoula, Lance attended the University of Washington, where he competed in the decathlon for the Huskies Track & Field team. He later transferred to the University of Montana, where he played two seasons for the Montana Grizzlies football team and earned degrees in Economics and Political Science. He credits much of his work ethic and discipline as an attorney to his years as a collegiate athlete.
Lance's interest in the law began while interning with the Missoula law firm Datsopoulos, MacDonald & Lind, an experience that inspired him to attend the University of Oregon School of Law.
While in law school, Lance served on the Moot Court Board, was Senior Staff Editor for the Journal of Environmental Law & Litigation, and worked as a teaching assistant in the Legal Research and Writing Program.
After graduating, Lance returned to Montana, where he practiced with Datsopoulos, MacDonald & Lind and Cotner Law before joining E.J. Guza & Associates in 2019. Today, he is a partner at Guza | Lorenz | Carl, PLLC, where he continues to represent clients throughout Montana.
Lance's practice includes general civil litigation, business law, commercial and business transactions, entity formation, construction law, and family law. As the son of a small business owner, he especially enjoys helping Montana businesses navigate legal challenges and protect what they have built.
He is admitted to practice before the Montana District Courts, the Montana Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the District of Montana.
Outside the office, Lance enjoys spending time with family on Flathead Lake, skiing at Big Sky, and sharing a beer with friends in downtown Bozeman.
